Items Of Furniture For your Living Room
When you're decorating your living room there are certain pieces of furniture that are taken as a given. That is to say that all living rooms will have sofas, probably an arm chair, and a TV cabinet. From that point on though the living room tends to be mostly just empty space with maybe a rug and a fire place. That's all very well and such a living room would be a very attractive and functional one, however it's not really making the most of the vast range of living room furniture available. Here are some suggestions for some other items that can help add some interest to your living room.
Curio: A curio is a (usually) glass cabinet that can house a range of items and is normally used for the purpose of displaying a collection or selection of items. For example it will look great housing a selection of wine glasses or fine cutlery and this also makes practical storage as well as a nice display.
Mini-bar: A mini bar is great fun in any living room and an excellent way to entertain guests. You can buy furniture specifically designed as mini-bars, but at the same time anything that can hold drinks will work in that capacity. A curio for example can make a great mini bar as can any cabinet or cocktail table. A great way to make it a more effective looking mini bar is simply to add a bar stool next to the table to give visitors somewhere to perch when they make orders and have their drinks.
Decorative chest: A decorative chest looks good in almost every room including the living room. These are fairly low to the ground so they don't take up much space but if they are nicely painted or crafted they can add a lot to your décor. Again they also add yet another practical storage for towels, cushions or bed clothes.
Chez Lounge: A chez lounge is a very contemporary piece of modern furniture that is gaining more and more popularity. These are very stylistic and minimalistic alternatives/additions to regular sofa furniture and offer a sturdy support that healthy and relaxing while adding a contemporary flair to any living room decor.
Foot rest: There are many great foot rests that you can use from small foot stools to beanbags to pufets. Any of these will make your sitting experience more pleasant while watching the TV allowing you to kick your feet up and relax taking all the pressure off of them after a hard day's work. At the same time something like a beanbag can make a great seating arrangement if you run out of chairs or for playing games consoles.
Coffee Table: A coffee table is an important addition to any living room set up giving you somewhere to put the remote, stand drinks or keep magazines. This prevents things from being left on the floor and also makes the living room look a little less empty. The best coffee tables are the glass ones which will work well with other items of modern furniture in the room.
